Show Mercy Uganda Missions- June 2008

Short Term Mercy Mission-Uganda, June 2008

Many of you have been inquiring over the past few months about our next scheduled trip to Uganda. Well, we are pleased to announce that we now have some of the details for the upcoming Show Mercy International trip scheduled for June, 2008. It is not too early to begin planning for this trip.

Lori and I will be leading a team whose mission will be to continue the work of demonstrating love that we have begun in Uganda. For those of you that have traveled with us in the past, we will be doing many similar types of activities. There will be opportunities to show love to the many orphans that we are currently caring for as well as possible opportunities to help even more. We will also be traveling to hospitals to pray for the sick as we have on every other trip. We have seen numerous miracles and healings happen while showing love to the sick people of Uganda over the past years. Don’t just take our word for it; come and see for yourselves.  To read more about our short term trips and to watch a video from a past trip in 2006, please visit our website by clicking here.  Due to logistical reasons there is a possibility that we will need to limit the size of the team. In order to assure your place for this trip, please do not delay in submitting your completed application, waiver of liability form and $300 deposit.

Dates:

Leave June 17th (from Chicago O’Hare) - Return June 30, 2008 to Chicago O’Hare.

Cost:

$2900 which will include, RT Airfare from Chicago to Entebbe, Uganda, Hotel Accommodations while in Uganda for 11 nights, Breakfast and Dinner while in Uganda, Bottled Drinking Water, Ground Transportation while in Uganda, and Misc. Administrative fees. Due to the number of people that have been a part of our teams from areas outside of Oregon, we have decided to meet together at a central hub (Chicago) and fly overseas together. You will be responsible for providing your own airfare to Chicago where you will meet up with the team. This airfare is not included in the $2950. We would recommend securing your airfare to Chicago as soon as you are accepted to the team.

We will most likely eat lunch many days at Hope Children’s Home which will be of no cost to you. The only additional expenses you can expect to incur are any traveling expenses while en route, a few lunches while in Uganda, your visa fee of $50 per person and any souvenirs that you would purchase.

Credit cards may be used for any payments, however a 3% fee will be added to cover merchant fees charged to SMI.

Important Dates and Deadlines:

While we have tried to be very flexible in the past with our deadlines, we will not be able to do that  again this year. Due to the amount of interest in this upcoming trip, we will need to have received ever thing requested from you by the following dates or there is a very good chance that you might miss the opportunity to be allowed to be a part of the SMI team in June, 2008.

March 12, 2008
Notify us of your intention of being a team member by sending a $300 nonrefundable deposit to SMI along with your completed Missions Application and signed Waiver of Liability. This is a very important deadline. If we do not receive your deposit by this time, we will have to release the airline seats to avoid financial penalties to SMI.

May 1st, 2008
Payment of $2000 is due to SMI. (Without this payment by this deadline, your tickets will be released from the group and you will forfeit your $300 deposit)

June 1st, 2008
Final Payment of $600 due to SMI.

Since we are traveling as a group on the airlines, it is critical that we follow these deadlines listed above. Variations to this plan and travel itinerary, could result in penalties and fees being levied upon Show Mercy by the airlines.

If you have a heart of service and would like to share in the vision and values of Show Mercy International, I encourage you to consider being a part of this trip. We can say confidently, that many of those who have traveled with us are changed forever as they poured out love, one child (and person) at a time.

A Gift that Keeps on Giving

Merry Christmas!

This is a wonderful time of year to celebrate the birth of Jesus.  In the Bible, John 3:16 tells us that God so loved the world that He GAVE his only son.  One of the many ways we celebrate Jesus’ birth is to pass on the gift that was given to us - Love.  Love is truly a gift that will continue on forever.  This year, we would like to express love to the children at Hope Children’s Home by providing them with a wonderful Christmas dinner.  We would also love to purchase a new outfit as well as brand new shoes for each one.  This will mean so much to the 100 children you have helped us to rescue.

On top of that, we want the children at Hope to also celebrate the true meaning of Christmas by having an opportunity to give to others in need.  We will be purchasing gift baskets full of flour, sugar, tea, eggs, soap, lotion and other little things for the elderly widows that live right there in the village.  The children will then go door to door delivering these baskets along with Christmas cards that they are now making in school.

Would you consider giving a gift that will truly keep on giving?  Help us to continue to reach out in love….one child/person at a time.
