Urgent Opportunity to Help “Grandma”

Dear Show Mercy Supporters:

We have an urgent opportunity for those of you who would like to help our special Grandma in Gganda Lori loving on Grandma last JuneVillage.  The report below comes from Terah Kasozi, our Show Mercy staff member in Uganda, who made a visit to her house this week.  Please contact us if you would like to give towards helping to provide Grandma with a short-term, full-time caregiver and help provide some repairs on her home.  You can make the latter years of Grandma’s life as blessed as possible.

Thank you.

“Jajja has not been good the last three days and today is the fourth day she has not had a meal.  This is not because she does not have any food, but because of her current feeling.  We had a 30-minute interaction this evening with her and learned a couple of things.  Four days ago, while in the garden, she got paralyzed and fell down with her legs stuck in one position.  Her right leg hurt so very much that she started crying and screaming for help for someone to come help her. All of a sudden, a stranger (man) that was passing by her garden appeared and Jajja asked him to pick up her hoe and CUT OFF her right leg immediately from the thigh area. The man looked confused and wondered what the old woman was up to.  She insisted the man pick up her hoe and amputate her leg, but the guy simply ignored her and walked away.  After at least 5 hours of unconscious lying down on the ground in pain, she finally managed to crawl to her house in that pain.

I also learned that she has been suffering from what she described as a “needle pricking pain in the joints” for the last year.  She mentioned that currently it’s way too much and yet she does not believe in the doctors’ reports if any.  She sounded worried and hopeless and when I mentioned to her that I knew you would love to revisit her when you come this January, she wondered if she would still be living.

Jajja was scared and wondered if she’d be alive the next day.  So she tried on her red dress that Show Mercy bought her.  The following day I asked everyone that had come around to watch over her.  She clearly declared that she wants to wear your dress on her burial day. She had wanted to keep the dress for “big ceremonies and celebrations” so she had only tried it on when Prossy and I went to take pictures of the dress a couple of months ago.  She put the dress on just a few days ago because she thought she was dying the following day and she didn’t want to miss trying it on.

Grandma’s house almost fell on her about a month ago. She asked a few guys to fix the falling roof the following morning and they did try to support the roof with a few poles to keep it together.

Jajja is such a loving old lady.  Right before I left her home today, I left her with as little as 1,000 Ugandan shillings (62 cents) that brought her “tears of joy.”  I had the opportunity of sweeping her home with a broom she made from leaves.  This act left her all smiles.  She is a lovely old grand mama that is so God loving.  May God totally heal and protect this old lady.

A few people (relatives) have been sleeping at her house due to her current bad health.  But they have to leave every morning to go back to their families and Jajja is alone until late evening when they return to take care of her until the following morning.  Please pray for her as the spirit leads you.
