Show Mercy – Holding Hands and Mending Hearts

Stirn Family Serving with Show Mercy in Uganda Africa

Stirn FamilyAfter preparing for this move for almost a year, the Stirns are very happy to be settling into a normal routine (as normal as it can be for living in Africa).  They hit the ground running as soon as they arrived in Uganda.  There is a lot to do when making such a huge transition; they had to furnish their house, find and purchase a vehicle, and do lots of running around to figure out where everything is in the city as well as the village.

They have also been busy attending to a lot of different needs out at Hope Children’s home; one project was to gather more information about the different children who attend Alpha Omega Primary School.  This helps Show Mercy be the voice for these children!  Many of the children (who are not sponsored) cannot afford to bring lunch to school and are hungry all day long as they are studying; some of them have a very difficult home life, which makes getting even one good meal a day very difficult.   Here are a few photos of children waiting for sponsorship.  Be a voice for THEM! (You can find more information and pictures on our sponsorship page by clicking here.)

While working on the projects, the Stirn family also makes time to hold hands and spending quality time with all of the amazing children at Hope Children’s Home.  They have taken children to the doctor who needed care and were able to be a comfort to them.  They are able to use their vehicle to help with quick transportation instead of the public transport, which can be very crowded and slow.

To Be Like A Child – Perspective Is What Matters

HeatherTransitioning an entire family to life in Uganda can be hard.  Heather shares a little about one of her days in Uganda.  “I was having a “challenging” day.  As we were heading out to Hope Children’s Home, I was praying for God to help me in my weakness.  All week long, I had loved on a little boy who is only four years old; his finger was infected, and the fingernail was hanging on by just a thread.   The infected finger was now as big as two or three of his fingers put together!  He was holding onto my hand, swinging my arm back and forth and saying something over and over in Luganda, so I asked one of the older girls to translate for me.  “What is Kefar saying?” I asked Teddy.   She said, “He is saying, God is our life!”  My heart melted and began to take a better shape than it was before.  Sometimes it is all about perspective!”

Even though you are not “physically” living in Uganda, you are investing in these children by supporting them through Show Mercy.  If you are sharing your heart and telling people about how we are changing the future of these children, then you are Show Mercy.  If you are praying for the children, then you are Show Mercy.  We, “Show Mercy International,” are making a huge impact in the future of this generation, in these children’s hearts that are crying out for justice.  Together, we were holding Kefar’s hand!  Together, we let him know that he isn’t alone and that he is loved!

Please join with us as we all continue to reach out in love, one child at a time.  Sponsor a Child , Join us on a Trip, volunteer your time, or consider hosting a holiday party to raise awareness!
