Show Mercy International typically takes teams to Uganda twice a year on trips that average around 2 weeks in length. There is the possibility of extending these trips for longer periods of time with prior approval. Show Mercy has taken over 100 team members to Uganda over the past few years on these short term mercy missions.
When on these trips, you can expect to have many opportunities to minister and share the love of Jesus in a variety of ways. We will usually visit local hospitals where we will pray for the sick. There will also be opportunities to share in local schools, orphanages, and churches. There will also be a lot of time to spend playing with and expressing God love to the orphans that we have had the opportunity to rescue and care for. Our main mission will always be very clear; to express love to the people of Uganda in both word and deed. Whether you are new to missions or someone with much experience, you can be assured that a trip with us will be life changing.
Show Mercy has been working in Uganda for close to 4 years where we have established many strong relationships with the people of Uganda. We have helped to build three children’s homes where close to 200 children are being cared for. We have seen time and again the lives of those who travel with us and experience this ministry first hand radically impacted in wonderful ways. Prepare to have your heart touched by the special people you will meet while in Uganda. Prepare to leave Uganda differently than you are when you arrive. Prepare to experience a life changing trip that you will never forget!
One thing that we ask before joining ones of our teams is that you review the values and mission of Show Mercy International. If you believe that your purpose in being a part of a team is to help us fulfill that mission, we would like to talk to you about being a part of the team. Unity is a very important ingredient in the success of these trips. While we certainly are open to helping you fulfill specific individual desires while in Uganda, the ultimate goal should be to help us fulfill the vision and mission of Show Mercy International with the people that God has given us to minister to and partner with. If you have any questions or concerns about this particular request, we would be glad to discuss it with you in more detail.
The cost of the trips are typically around $3000 (which typically includes airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transportation while in Uganda, drinking water as well as breakfast, dinner and administrative fees. We try our best to keep these trips as affordable as possible for everyone who goes with us, however airfare costs have risen substantially over the past few years and are still a constantly a moving target. If you are considering going on a trip with us in the future, you can begin your preparations by applying for a passport if you don’t already have one as well as getting a Yellow Fever vaccination which is required by the Ugandan government before they will issue you a visa.
