Pinelake Team Update

Hot Lunch Program

Every Tuesday Show Mercy hosts the "Hot Lunch Program." Around 30 children gather together to eat a hot meal, play games, and just have fun! Some of these children are in our sponsorship program, but we have also added a few new children! In the beginning the new children were a bit shy, but they were thrilled to be there.

The Hot Lunch program started a little over a month ago. The children were so excited to play, take pictures with the team, and eat a hot meal!

Elderly Visit

Our H.E.R.O. program (Helping Elderly... Relieving Oppression.) is a community based partnership program which brings emotional, spiritual and physical support to the elderly struggling to survive. Many of the elderly are left behind and struggle to care for themselves. The team met Jaja Christine (jaja means grandmother.) They expressed how amazed they were by her strong faith in the Lord despite the challenges she has faced in her life. Jaja Christine shared her testimony to the team and explained how thankful she is to receive food, medical care, and sponsorships for her grandchildren. None of this would be possible without YOU! Click here to get involved with our H.E.R.O program. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

The Bridge Program

The Bridge Program provides extra assistance to children who are struggling to learn in the village schools. Some children learn at a slower pace than others. In Uganda this often causes children to get left behind and eventually, they are forced to drop out of school.

Because of sponsorship, we are able to provide extra assistance to the children who are struggling.

The team was able to visit our Bridge program and help the children read, write, and draw!

The Birthing Center

The past 21 months, the Show Mercy Birthing Center has helped to bring 60+ babies into the world! The SMI Birthing Center is a place where moms can have their babies in a safe and loving environment.

Claudia and Taylor spent some of the day helping out in the Birthing Center. Charity, who is a part of our medical staff, helped to guide them. They handed out gifts (which included bed sheets for the babies, socks, dresses, and a book titled "The Gospel of John."

"I learned a lot about immunizations and how that is done here at The Birthing Center in Uganda. I was able to love on the babies and the families, pray over them, and give them gifts. I hope that I will be able to go back one day!" - Claudia

"I got to pray over a lot of the families that came in. It was a lot of fun to be able to give out the gifts. We had a really fun time getting to love on the moms and the babies while we were there!" -Taylor

Youth Gathering

We gathered the youth from the surrounding villages to the SMI base. The team had such a fun time with them. They played games such as "musical spots," performed skits, and just spent time loving on the children!
